Summary

Join Sawhorse, a Los Angeles-based creative studio, as a skilled 3D Artist. You will be instrumental in shaping the visual aspects of our games, creating captivating environments, and supporting user-generated content. As a key member of the artistic team, you will design and produce high-quality 3D assets, collaborate with various teams, apply texturing and shading techniques, and optimize assets for performance. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for gaming, a strong 3D art foundation, and excellent collaboration skills. This role offers a competitive salary and the flexibility of being based in our Los Angeles office or remotely.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years experience in 3D Design, 3D Art, Digital Art, or related fields
  • Proven experience as a 3D Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in props and 3D modeling
  • Proficient in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, Blender) and texture creation tools (e.g., Substance Painter)
  • Knowledge of game development pipelines and experience with game engines (Roblox Studio, Unity or Unreal Engine to name a few)
  • Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce high-quality 3D assets, including props and other assets in different themes in line with the artistic direction of the projects
  • Ensure that all assets meet technical and performance requirements while maintaining visual excellence
  • Work closely with Art Directors, Art Managers, Game Designers and other team members to understand project requirements and deliver within expectations
  • Collaborate effectively within cross-disciplinary teams to integrate 3D assets seamlessly into the game environment
  • Communicate efficiently with the team members to guarantee assets and projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Apply texturing and shading techniques to enhance the visual appeal of the 3D models while keeping organized UVs and texture maps
  • Collaborate with the art team to maintain a consistent and cohesive art style throughout the game
  • Optimize 3D assets for performance, ensuring efficient use of resources without compromising visual fidelity
  • Collaborate with technical teams to implement and troubleshoot assets within the game engine
  • Actively participate in critiques and provide/receive constructive feedback to improve the quality of 3D assets
  • Iterate on designs based on feedback and artistic direction

Preferred Qualifications

Having a strong interest in different web3 and metaverse platforms, such as Roblox, Unity, Unreal, Horizon Worlds, Spatial to name a few

Benefits

  • $35-$55/hour
  • This role can be based in the Los Angeles office or remote
  • This position is generally operating during West Coast hours M-F 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
