Summary
Join Airbnb's Research team as an AI-Enabled Insights Analyst and leverage AI technologies to enhance research methodologies. You will partner with team members on research initiatives, contribute unique analyses, and improve team capabilities. Responsibilities include supporting AI-powered analytical services, analyzing unstructured data, identifying new AI applications for research, and developing user-friendly AI analytics interfaces. You will communicate insights effectively and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in an analytical field, advanced degree or significant research experience, NLP experience, knowledge of LLMs, and proficiency in Python or R. The position is US-Remote Eligible with Pacific Time Zone work hours as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an analytical human-oriented field (e.g., economics, cognitive science, psychology, data science/analytics)
- Past experience using natural language processing [NLP] for purposes of human research
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern Large Language Models [LLMs] and their use in human research
- Minimum 3 years of experience performing analytical research on human sourced data (e.g., consumer insights, economics research, data science)
- Minimum 2 years working in the context of a larger team toward analytical goals
- Familiarity with consumer insights research objectives, applications & methods, including qual (e.g., IDIs, focus groups, ethnographies, online immersive activities) and quant (e.g., segmentation, concept testing, driver/path modeling, brand tracking, topic modeling of unstructured data, foundational audience explorations, journey/path to decision research, competitive landscape assessments)
- Ability to read and understand academic style writing so that you can keep up with the latest and greatest advances in artificial intelligence
- Proficiency in Python or R (with the expectation of Python being the primary language on the job)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with partners of all levels of technical expertise
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and friendly manner
- A hands-on approach to solving problems and acquiring new knowledge/skills
- Able to adapt quickly to new tasks and objectives, and work under tight timelines
- A strong sense of curiosity and a drive to learn new things. Must be able to adapt to a constantly changing technical environment as technology advances

Responsibilities
- Leverage emerging artificial intelligence technologies to constantly improve and innovate on how research is performed
- Support in providing AI powered analytical services (e.g., NLP, predictive modeling) to members of the Research team and other stakeholders
- Support in the maintenance of existing AI powered research tools developed for the Research team
- Contribute to analysis of unstructured data from primary research, and from other internal and external sources
- Identify new opportunities to use AI for research, turn those opportunities into useful analytical tools, then socialize and support the deployment of those tools
- Assist in the development of front-end interfaces to enable self-serve AI analytics for other Research team members
- Contribute to analysis of database data and integration of results into story-driven reports that synthesize primary research, secondary research and database-driven insights
- Be a friendly and supportive thought leader in the area of artificial intelligence
- Communicate insights in concise and compelling ways through written reports, informal discussions, and more formal presentations
- Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal colleagues and stakeholders, and with current and prospective research suppliers
- Avoid silos and seek out ways to add value by synthesizing and collaborating across the teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or significant research experience (e.g., at a university, research institute, or government agency) in one of the above fields
- Familiarity with querying and working with large database systems; experience with SQL
