Assistant Controller

Summary

The job is for an Accounting Manager at Inspiration Mobility, a remote-eligible company focused on electrification acceleration and fleet management. The role involves owning accounting activities, developing policies, and implementing systems. The ideal candidate has a CPA license, 10+ years of accounting experience, knowledge of GAAP, ERP system integration, and domain expertise in fleet management/vehicle leasing or finance, clean energy, or asset investment.

Requirements

• Valid CPA license
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in accounting (public or private)
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), particularly Equipment Lease Accounting (operating and financing leases) and Revenue Recognition (ASC 842 and 606)
• Experience designing, integrating, and implementing a modern ERP system, preferably NetSuite

Responsibilities

• Partner with the finance team and operations teams to own accounting activities, including leases, revenue recognition, monthly close, and ad hoc requests
• Develop and implement robust policies and procedures that align with company goals
• Establish an automated and integrated account payables management system
• Complete the monthly financial close process within 5 days of month-end
• Produce an automated and integrated billing system that provides accurate monthly invoices for each line of business
• Oversee sales and use tax calculations, invoicing, collection, reporting, and remittance
• Evaluate new lease terms and ensure initial recording and subsequent measurement is in accordance with ASC 842
• Develop and enhance the customer invoicing process to include creation of invoices, collections, and cash application
• Assist with documenting, maintaining, and ensuring internal controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance that company assets are protected

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analytics skills
• Domain expertise and experience in one or more of the following sectors: i) fleet management/vehicle leasing or finance, ii) clean energy/renewables/sustainability, iii) asset investment / private credit/project finance

Benefits

• Salary Range: $140-170k + 15-20% annual bonus & equity eligible
• Location: This role is remote eligible, with occasional travel to Washington, D.C
