Summary

As Assistant Controller, you will support a wide variety of functions which include transactional processing, monthly close activities, financial analysis and the implementation of financial and compliance controls. Reporting to the CFO, you will serve as a key management resource ensuring that financial records are complete, accurate and comply with GAAP, policies and the needs of management.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent
  • At least 8 years of progressive and relevant finance experience (at least 5 years as an Accountant, Sr. Accountant or Accounting Manager)
  • Working Knowledge of GAAP accounting policies
  • Expert in Microsoft Office applications (Excel), Google Sheet, and QB/QuickBooks Online
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel formulas (Pivot Tables, VlookUp, Sumifs required)
  • Strong Analytical and Organization skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to multitask and work under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in a heavy deadline driven environment. Willingness to work extended hours required
  • Advanced problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of accounting and financial reporting
  • Implement controls, processes, and systems to enable the company to meet operational, reporting, and audit requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to identify improvement opportunities and design / implement controls to manage
  • Complete month-end close accurately and timely, including preparing monthly account reconciliations; analyzing balances to ensure accuracy; identifying, resolving and communicating unreconciled items to the CFO
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in conformity with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Prepare cash-basis profit and loss report for management review
  • Assist with preparing monthly invoices to clients
  • Manage accounts receivable and drive compliance to terms
  • Review fixed asset purchases and prepare documentation for eligible purchases for financing
  • Oversee payroll payroll and contractor processing including managers review timesheets for hourly employees, processing reimbursements and deductions
  • Assist with external audit and tax supporting schedules
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports upon management requests
  • Proactively identify/resolve operational and financial challenges as they arise
  • Assists with process improvements, and provides recommendations to management
  • Effectively cross-trained to support other accounting team members
  • Manage accounts payable controls, teams and compliance to policies and contracted agreements
  • Operates in a management capacity and cultivates a strong financial team through management expertise and experience (including hiring, team building, performance management, and training)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or in process preferred
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing and payroll taxes for out of state employees
  • Experience interfacing with CPAs and Tax professionals and leading audits with outside parties
