Summary

Join Vida, a virtual personalized obesity care provider, as an Assistant Controller and oversee day-to-day accounting operations. You will maintain internal controls, ensure compliance, and shape accounting processes. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on tasks, supporting scaling initiatives. Responsibilities include leading monthly/quarterly/year-end close processes, overseeing GL activities, preparing financial statements, and maintaining internal controls. You will also work with various teams to reconcile revenue, partner with FP&A and operations, and coordinate with external auditors. The position requires a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA or CMA certification, and 5โ€“8 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • CPA or CMA required
  • 5โ€“8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., MS Products, NetSuite, Carta, ADPTS, Bill.com, Expensify, Divvy)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes
  • Oversee GL activities, journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
  • Assist in interpreting contracts for proper revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Work with billing, RCM and data teams to reconcile platform and claims-based revenue
  • Partner with FP&A and operations to ensure accurate cost allocation across revenue channels
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors and compliance teams
  • Ensure timely completion of annual audit, including PBC schedules
  • Support state sales/use tax, SUI and 1099 compliance
  • Support automation and system integration (NetSuite, Expensify, Bill.com, ADP, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve reporting accuracy
  • Manage accounting staff (e.g., Payroll, AP, Revenue, Billing, Staff Accountants)
  • Provide training and mentorship

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within healthcare, SaaS or tech environments a large plus
