Summary

Join Greenlight Guru as a Legal Counsel to lead our legal functions and bring your expertise in technology licensing, privacy, and security to a growing SaaS company. Report directly to the EVP of Finance and work closely with the Executive Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of substantive legal technology licensing, security and privacy experience, preferably in-house with a successful, high-growth enterprise SaaS company, with 3+ years software contracting experience
  • Deep knowledge of data protection laws, regulations, certifications, and emerging state data regulations (CCPA, NYCRR, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of SaaS industry, including cybersecurity concepts and security certifications (specifically HITRUST)
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and negotiating skills with security and privacy commitments
  • Proven ability to organize, document, and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Detail-oriented and outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to work with a wide variety of people, at all levels in the organization, in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong team player (no job is too small or too large) and willing to take on additional responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve challenges and thrive in a self-sufficient manner
  • Service-oriented, professional, and strong integrity
  • JD degree from an accredited law school required
  • Current law license required ideally in Indiana or Georgia

Responsibilities

  • Draft subscription and other business agreements for our SaaS Platform, negotiate concerns around risk with prospects and customers, and discuss and negotiate privacy and data protection agreements with customers
  • Advise and guide a wide range of complex legal issues relating to commercial terms, compliance, privacy, employment, security, and regulatory matters in conjunction with our compliance and leadership teams
  • Develop and drive legal compliance policies and procedures designed to enhance regulatory and business standards and support the company’s business and strategic objectives
  • Engage with external counsel when necessary in complex legal situations
  • Develop and deliver training on contract templates, playbooks, and data protection and security laws
  • Support continuous improvements of templates, policies, and processes to help streamline, simplify, and automate the contracting processes
  • Assist with monitoring and registration of intellectual property rights
  • Identify and assess business and legal risks, and collaborate to find creative ways to mitigate them while achieving business goals
