Summary
Join The Trevor Project as an Associate, Volunteer Relations and contribute to our mission of ending suicide among LGBTQ+ youth. This remote, full-time role supports both Community and Student volunteer counselors on our crisis services platforms. You will assist in day-to-day operations, lead volunteer training sessions, provide coaching and feedback, and manage projects to improve volunteer program impact. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant degree (BSW, MSW, LCSW, LMHC, or related) and experience in social work, counseling, or crisis care. Requirements
- BSW, MSW, LCSW, LMHC, or related degrees required to support program students
- Proficiency in spoken and written English with strong communication and active listening skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, including the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth
- Familiarity with crisis management protocols
- Demonstrated commitment to staff wellness, with a trauma-informed approach, recognizing and addressing the unique challenges and stressors that volunteers face in crisis intervention work
- Strong resilience and adaptability in handling crisis situations, with the ability to remain calm and provide effective support during challenging circumstances
- A quiet, private work environment with high-speed dedicated broadband internet access (minimum 10Mb down/5Mb up)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to our critical mission of ending suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning young people, while fostering an inclusive approach to your direct work and engagement with Trevor colleagues across the organization
- Continually grow your LGBTQ+ competency and awareness
- Assist the Volunteer Relations Manager in maintaining day-to-day operations of the Community and Student Volunteer programs
- Assist with external recruitment through outreach and presentations, including communication with external universities and vetting applicants to Trevorβs volunteer programs
- Lead ongoing training sessions for volunteers to ensure their continuous growth and development
- Support the development, coaching, and management of community and student volunteers ensuring accountability and desired results
- Provide volunteers with concise and constructive written and verbal feedback, as needed
- Support administrative processes including coordinating team meetings, handling email inboxes, letter of recommendation requests, tech requests and scheduling inquiries
- Lead projects and initiatives that drive performance, quality and impact across the active volunteer base, including but not limited to, coaching, feedback, support and new counselor success
- Identify areas for innovation within the team, developing and implementing plans to enact change and improve upon current systems in order to increase the number of volunteers who reach service journey milestones with the organization
- Collaborate closely with the Continuous Quality Improvement team around approved policy changes, continuous learning, volunteer coaching and other supportive initiatives to ensure
- Volunteer risks and dependencies are surfaced and a seamless change management process is built and rolled out for our volunteer base

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred additional experience in social work, counseling, psychology or other related areas of study OR 3+ years experience in a crisis care setting or other relevant professional experience
