Summary
Join Team Rubicon as an Associate, Public Relations and support national media outreach efforts, enhancing the organization's visibility and strengthening relationships with media outlets. You will secure media coverage, manage press outreach, and ensure consistent messaging. This role involves building relationships with journalists, coordinating media opportunities, and supporting rapid-response communications during disasters. The position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual skilled in media relations with experience securing earned media placements. This is a full-time, remote position based anywhere in the US, offering a flexible schedule. The Associate, Public Relations reports to the Director, Communications.
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or a related field
- Proven ability to secure national media coverage and maintain relationships with high-profile reporters
- Experience writing press materials and coordinating media interviews
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives
- Experience using media monitoring platforms such as Muck Rack, Cision, or Meltwater
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
- This is a full-time ; REMOTE position based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
Responsibilities
- Lead national media outreach efforts, building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, and producers
- Secure earned media placements across print, digital, and broadcast outlets to elevate TRโs brand and mission
- Develop and distribute press materials, including media advisories, press releases, and key messaging documents
- Coordinate media interviews, including scheduling, briefing spokespeople, and providing talking points
- Monitor and analyze media coverage, identifying trends and opportunities for increased visibility
- Support crisis communications and rapid-response efforts, ensuring timely and strategic media engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams to align media outreach with TRโs broader brand and marketing efforts
- Track and report on media outreach efforts, providing insights and recommendations for ongoing strategy
