Summary
Join Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company (F&G) as the AVP, Investments and report to the VP, Enterprise Investments and Hedging Solutions. Collaborate with the investments team to manage and produce investment-related deliverables, including researching investment ideas, strategic and tactical asset allocation, ALM, portfolio management, and ad-hoc projects. Direct reports will be managed, and interactions with external asset managers and internal teams will be essential. This role involves leading strategic asset allocation, co-owning dynamic and tactical asset allocation processes, portfolio optimization, overseeing external managers, and reporting on portfolio metrics. Responsibilities also include creating presentations for the Investment Committee, managing investment-related deliverables for stakeholders, developing portfolio benchmarking processes, supporting company initiatives, providing strategic insight, communicating with external managers, managing the asset class SME program, and handling day-to-day portfolio management and ad-hoc requests. The position offers a flexible work environment with options for in-office, hybrid, and remote work arrangements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, investments or related field
- 10+ years of related experience with a minimum of 5 years experience working within or with the investments team of an insurance company
- 4+ years experience leading a team
- Knowledge of fixed income portfolio management, and exposure to other general account assets – i.e. structured assets, real estate, alternatives
- Demonstrated strong asset modeling skills with the ability to automate/streamline current processes
- Ability to lead and manage large-scale projects & teams and manage competing priorities
- Understanding of STAT and GAAP accounting frameworks
- Understanding of insurance capital frameworks
- Strong collaborator with demonstrated project management skills
- Strong capabilities in MS Excel and, Bloomberg, Aladdin (or similar modeling and investment systems)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Superior analytical and problem solving skills
- Team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to lead and manage a team
- Perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned

Responsibilities
- Lead the enterprise strategic asset allocation work in collaboration with internal F&G teams and external managers
- Co-own the dynamic and tactical asset allocation processes with the business verticals on the team
- Portfolio optimization –Design and execute portfolio programs to improve profitability of, or reduce risk in, the inforce portfolio
- Liaise and oversee external investment managers
- Work closely with the Investment Portfolio Analytics Team and external managers to report on portfolio metrics and provide analytical insight into the portfolio
- Lead the planning, coordination, analysis, and creation of presentation materials for the Investment Committee on behalf of the Investment Department
- Responsible for investment related deliverables, such as presentation materials and data requests from all external stakeholder (rating agencies, investors, etc)
- Work closely with the Investment Portfolio Analytics Team to develop, manage, and implement a robust process for portfolio benchmarking
- Support internal company-wide initiatives such as ESG, ICOLI and Corporate Development, as needed
- Provide strategic insight for senior members of the Investments team in the evaluation of assumptions used in various asset modeling, portfolio optimization, and trade program processes
- Communicate investment directives and needs to the external asset managers in a timely and regular manner, including assessment and execution of tactical asset allocations
- Manage and oversee the overall asset class SME program on the team
- Provide day-to-day management of the portfolio
- Provide ad-hoc analytical requests
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA and/or ASA designation
- Experience with life/annuity company liabilities
