Backend Engineer

Summary

As a Platform Backend Engineer at Transfr, you will design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure for their VR platform, collaborate with multiple teams to optimize learning experiences, and ensure code quality, security, and performance. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related coursework, 2-4 years of experience in large-scale backend systems, proficiency in cloud services like AWS, Python, databases, and containerization technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related coursework
• 2 to 4 years of experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale backend systems and services
• Experience with cloud infrastructure services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong background in designing and building high-throughput low-latency distributed systems
• Proven experience developing RESTful APIs
• Experience with using Python as a server-side language
• Knowledge of relational database technologies, such as PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in using AWS services such as Fargate, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS and RDS
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and effectively
• Ability to work in an agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and reliable backend services for the VR platform
• Collaborate with the VR team to define data contracts and events schema
• Work with the product manager to define and implement platform service features
• Optimize and support the existing platform pipeline used for capturing events from production released simulations
• Ensure code quality, security, and performance of the backend platform services
• Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues in a timely manner
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers

Benefits

• The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $150,000
