Summary
Join our client, a tech-focused accounting firm, and become a vital part of their team. You will play a key role in providing comprehensive financial services to small businesses. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, GST and BAS preparation, payroll processing, and tax return assistance. You will utilize Xero and other accounting software, manage client files, and ensure compliance with Australian regulations. This part-time, remote position offers the potential for full-time employment based on performance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting and possess strong technical skills.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an Accountant, Bookkeeper, or in a similar role within an Australian company or financial firm
- XERO certified in both bookkeeping and payroll
- Strong knowledge of BAS and IAS preparation
- Capable of managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero, as well as MS Excel
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounts payable/receivable principles
- Demonstrated ability to calculate, post, and manage financial records accurately
- Strong data entry skills and a keen eye for numbers
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and accounting tools
- Proficient in English and skilled in using MS Office applications
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Bachelorβs degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, and reconcile accounts to ensure up-to-date bookkeeping
- Assist with Goods and Services Tax (GST) calculations and Business Activity Statement (BAS) lodgments in compliance with Australian tax regulations
- Manage payroll functions, including salary calculations, superannuation contributions, and compliance with Australian payroll laws
- Utilize Xero and other accounting software to handle invoicing, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support in preparing basic tax returns and financial statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Australian tax laws
- Maintain and organize client financial records while ensuring data security measures, including Microsoft 365 multi-factor authentication
- Manage supplier invoices, process payments, follow up on outstanding accounts, and ensure timely collections
- Generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports to assist with business decision-making
- Ensure compliance with Australian tax and accounting standards, keeping up with changes in legislation
- Work closely with the Australian accounting team, providing updates on financial matters and supporting business growth strategies
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with commission reconciliation is an advantage
