Summary
Join Xero as a Business Analyst to support product leaders and development teams in understanding customer problems through data-driven analysis. You will translate insights, organize work, and contribute to solutions that deliver customer and business value. Leverage your UK tax and statutory reporting knowledge to stay ahead of regulatory changes. This is a 12-month fixed-term position. You will navigate Xero's internal networks, identify regulatory compliance needs, provide technical guidance, conduct testing, analyze customer data, and translate customer problems into user stories. Success involves delivering quality insights, developing effective user stories, and ensuring the backlog is supported by data and analytics.
Requirements
- Experience with agile processes in a software development environment
- Experience in analysing data, providing insight and recommendations
- Experience in a problem-solving role using critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated experience as a valued team member working within teams to deliver customer / business outcomes
- A background in tax and accounting with a deep understanding of UK statutory reporting and tax legislation
- Any of the following qualifications (or equivalent if not listed), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), ACA (Association of the institute of Chartered Accountants), AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) or ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) and have knowledge of UK tax system
Responsibilities
- Navigate and build networks across Xero to understand how the product fits into Xero's strategy, objectives and future
- Identify, interpret and document the detailed regulatory and financial compliance needs and calculations to support Xeroβs UK Tax solutions, ensuring that these items are added to the backlog
- Provide technical compliance guidance and support around tax legislation and calculations (such as legislative budget changes and Making Tax Digital), for the product team to ensure they are aware of upcoming changes
- Conduct walkthroughs, testing and assist in verifying the changes implemented are correct
- Contribute to the collation and analysis of customer data to inform product planning
- Translate the customer problem into actionable user stories for the team
- Support the Product Manager to manage the backlog to ensure it follows the product roadmap and strategy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SaaS product development desired but not a must
