Campaigns Director

Summary

Join America Votes as their Campaigns Director and lead their efforts in progressive change and elections. You will oversee programs in seven battleground states, manage a team of over 40 staff, and play a key role in expanding America Votes' work nationally. Build and maintain relationships with partners, advise executive leadership, and serve on the senior leadership team. This is a strategic leadership role requiring significant experience in independent expenditure campaigns, coalition management, and team leadership. Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of professional experience, including at least 7 years of organizational leadership and management of senior leaders
• Significant experience building winning independent expenditure campaign plans that use a suite of diverse, multiple tactics with a focus on direct voter contact
• Deep knowledge of the national electoral landscape and trusted relationships with leaders in the America Votes’ coalition
• Superb interpersonal skills, the ability to lead through influence, and an impressive history of forging strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
• Significant, successful management of large teams, including leading through organizational change
• Ability to set priorities and make tough, strategic decisions in an intense environment
• Demonstrated ability in managing and leading coalitions with multi-issue agendas
• Proven track record of leading programmatic work through a lens of racial equity
• Expertise in modern campaign tactics, including data and targeting
• Compelling communication skills, including excellent writing and presentation skills
• Solid understanding of state election and campaign finance laws impact on program
• Collaborative leadership style, low ego, spirit of service, and a sense of humor

Responsibilities

• Lead America Votes’ infrastructure and program work in AZ, GA, MI, NV, NC, PA, and WI
• Oversee plans and programs in each cycle’s electoral top priorities and states including voter registration, Get Out The Vote, canvass, and mail
• Play a key role in America Votes’ expansion of its work on electoral and issue priorities that fall outside of its current core states
• Build and maintain thoughtful, trusting relationships with partners, allies and stakeholders across the country
• Oversee a team of over 40 state and national staff
• Play a key role in developing America Votes’ strategy for the ongoing engagement and program coordination with national partner organizations
• Advise executive leadership on the cross-state electoral strategy, "plans to win," and program "gap-filling"
• Serve on America Votes’ senior leadership team, holding an organizational leadership role and responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

People management experience with a unionized staff is a plus
