Requirements

• AAPC or AHIMA coding certification
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in CDI coding
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines and official coding conventions
• Familiarity with MS-DRG and APR-DRG systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records to identify clinical indicators and documentation opportunities for improved coding accuracy and completeness
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify and obtain additional documentation for accurate code assignment
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, regulations, and standards
• Conduct regular audits and provide education to healthcare providers on coding and documentation best practices
• Participate in coding and documentation improvement projects
• Stay up to date with industry changes and advancements in clinical documentation integrity and coding practices
