Join How To Manage A Small Law Firm as a fractional/timeshare CFO, providing financial guidance to small law firms. You will analyze financial statements, advise clients on financial decisions, and help them achieve their goals. Requirements
- Have a very strong background in financial and/or accounting roles
- Possess a business degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting or finance
- Have hands-on experience advising under-capitalized and financially illiterate small business owners
- Be able to spot and explain (in plain English) the sources & uses of cash to a business owner who does not know what βsources & uses of cashβ means
- Be able to recognize when & why there is a risk of non-compliance with requisite federal & state remittances based on trends in the balance sheet
- Be able to identify where there is a deficiency in performance on the P&L, present multiple approaches for correcting the issue and be prepared to hold the client accountable for taking the necessary steps
- Be prepared to discuss the joy derived from creating budgets and financial forecasts
- Have hands-on FP&A experience
- Live in AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA
- Be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- This is a full-time position
Responsibilities
- Read, analyze, interpret, and make sense of client financials
- Spot problems and opportunities in client financials
- Meet with clients (via Zoom or telephone) to discuss findings
- Help clients face facts and make data-driven decisions
- Present options and lay out plans with clients
- Hold clients accountable for taking agreed-upon actions
- Help clients find the courage, clarity, and commitment to implement plans
- Work remotely from your home office with up to 30 clients
- Meet with each client twice a month for about an hour
- Spend about an hour a month working on each client's file
- Participate in pod meetings to discuss shared roster and strategy
- Attend regularly scheduled all-team meetings for training and communication
- Occasionally travel to attend live client meetings
- Function as the CFO of assigned law firms
