Join How To Manage A Small Law Firm as a fractional/timeshare CFO, providing financial expertise to small law firms across the US. You will work remotely, advising clients on financial strategies, analyzing financial statements, and helping them make data-driven decisions. Requirements

  • Have a very strong background in financial and/or accounting roles with a business degree, preferably with an emphasis in accounting or finance
  • Have hands-on experience advising small business owners who are under-capitalized and not particularly financially literate
  • Be able to spot and explain in plain English the sources & uses of cash to a business owner who does not know what β€œsources & uses of cash” means
  • Be able to recognize when & why there is a risk of non-compliance with requisite federal & state remittances based on trends in the balance sheet and be able to identify where there is a deficiency in performance on the P&L, present multiple approaches for correcting the issue and be prepared to hold the client accountable for taking the necessary steps to get themselves out of crazy town
  • Have hands-on FP&A experience
  • Be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Live in AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA

Responsibilities

  • Read, analyze, interpret, and make sense of clients' financials, spotting problems and opportunities
  • Meet with clients (via Zoom or telephone) to help them understand their financials, face facts, present options, and hold them accountable for taking action
  • Function as the CFO of assigned law firms
  • Work remotely from your home office with up to 30 clients, meeting with each twice a month for about an hour
  • Spend about an hour a month working on each client's file to prep, analyze, etc
  • Participate in Pod Meetings to discuss shared roster, align on strategy, and compare notes
  • Attend regularly scheduled all-team meetings for training and companywide communication
  • Assess the completeness and integrity of data in clients' systems before making sense of what is happening in the business
  • Persuade clients to invest in best practices regarding financial controls
