Summary

Join a fast-growing behavioral healthcare organization as their Chief Operating Officer (COO). Reporting to the CEO, you will lead multi-state operations, driving operational excellence, scaling the platform, and building high-performing teams. This role requires a seasoned healthcare operator with experience in senior leadership, scaling operations across multiple facilities, and navigating healthcare compliance. You will oversee operations, team development, growth initiatives, and performance management. It's a remote position with significant travel to facilities in Ohio, California, and Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of healthcare operations experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership, preferable in a multiunit healthcare or hospitality setting
  • Must have experience working for private equity sponsored companies
  • Must have successfully completed at least one exit/sale process
  • Track record of scaling healthcare operations across multiple facilities/states
  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance, licensing, and accreditation requirements
  • Experience with process improvement and operational optimization
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams
  • Background in implementing systems and structures in growing organizations
  • Experience managing P&L and driving financial performance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A sense of urgency and passion around their mission to provide compassionate care, and to grow the business alongside the CEO/Founder
  • Ability to travel 40-50% of the time to facilities

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations across all facilities, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Own and drive key performance metrics including length of stay and AMA (Against Medical Advice) rates
  • Build and optimize processes to create a consistent, repeatable, and scalable operational model
  • Implement and manage systems for clinical documentation, utilization review, and healthcare compliance
  • Develop and maintain state licensing and Joint Commission accreditation requirements
  • Travel regularly to facilities to ensure operational excellence and team development
  • Oversee facility-level leadership including Executive Directors and clinical leadership
  • Build and develop high-performing teams across all locations
  • Create training programs and professional development pathways
  • Drive accountability and performance management across all levels
  • Partner with HR to improve recruitment and retention strategies
  • Support integration of newly acquired facilities
  • Participate in due diligence for potential acquisitions
  • Standardize operations across facilities to enable efficient scaling
  • Develop new service lines and programs as market opportunities arise
  • Partner with marketing and admissions to optimize patient flow and census
  • Monitor and improve key operational metrics
  • Implement data-driven decision-making processes
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards and reporting systems
