Infrastructure Engineer

Summary

Join PostHog's ClickHouse Operations team as a full-remote employee and help increase the number of successful products globally! You will automate and maintain the infrastructure for ClickHouse instances, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. The role involves automating resource provisioning on AWS, utilizing Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes. You will also enhance cluster status visibility and conduct performance investigations. PostHog values autonomy, transparency, and solving big problems. The team is distributed between GMT-8 and GMT+2.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Python, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Experience building and operating high-scale complex data storage solutions
• Strong interest and experience in ClickHouse (or similar OLAP databases) internals and query performance optimization
• Can thrive in a culture of autonomy and self-direction

Responsibilities

• Automate the provisioning of metal resources (on AWS) for our cluster
• Automate dynamic provisioning of instances, utilizing Terraform, Ansible, and K8s
• Enhance visibility into cluster status
• Performance investigations and experiments using the latest hardware that the hyperscalers have to offer

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation
