Summary

Join Weber Shandwick's Detroit office as a corporate communications leader in our automotive practice. You will be responsible for designing and implementing strategic communications programs for clients, focusing on internal communications and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role requires strong client management skills, creative thinking, and the ability to balance creativity and effectiveness. While based in Detroit, remote work from other U.S. locations is considered for qualified candidates. Some travel is required. Requirements

  • BA or BS in Journalism, Business, Communications or related degree
  • 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Strong interest in corporate communications and automotive
  • Strong verbal and written communications and client management skills

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with clients and assist in client communications, including developing and coordinating routine account management materials, including timelines, activity reports, client documentation and project management support, as appropriate for size of account or office
  • Partner with diverse, cross-functional teams to ensure strong execution of programs in support of the client business objectives
  • Support creative ideation on a consistent basis and provide thoughtful recommendations
  • Develop communication and media materials, and conduct media outreach (social media posts, fact sheets, pitch emails, backgrounders)
  • Develop targeted media lists and learn/follow clients’ priority media: top-tier, trade, a diverse mix of social influencers, etc
  • Conduct research on a wide range of issues, review and prepare executive summaries and/or analyses of information, as appropriate for size of account or office
  • Monitor, analyze and develop client coverage reports, leveraging industry measurement and listening tools to identify opportunities for growth and strategic evolution
  • Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions based on category or competitive activity
  • Keep pace with social media / digital industry trends and developments
  • Work effectively alone and with team members and be familiar with digital collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Serve as role model to team members, producing high quality work and continually updating manager on activity progress
  • Proactively contribute to inclusive team culture and consistently display behaviors that support integration
  • Grow understanding of financial aspects of accounts by supporting budget tracking and invoicing, maintaining fee and out-of-pocket trackers, and submitting purchase orders
  • Support a healthy account and business through accurate time entry
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of clients’ business and industry
  • Familiarity with SOW in order to flag any out-of-scope client requests to manager
  • Leverage understanding of client’s business to share ideas to help grow the account organically
  • Participate in meetings to support new business development/organic business growth opportunities as directed, including capturing notes, recaps, research, updating trackers and timelines (proactive/reactive pitches)
  • Develop new business acumen through supporting the development of pitch materials and shadowing elements of a pitch
