Summary

Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member and share your expertise by educating adult learners online. You will utilize online technology and resources to effectively impart knowledge and provide feedback to students. Responsibilities include course teaching using the eCollege platform, timely responses to student inquiries, and maintaining accessibility to students. Faculty may be required to attend residencies for intensive teaching and discussions. All new faculty receive training in teaching techniques, Walden's policies, and assessment of academic integrity. Requirements

  • 2+ years of Clinical Practice experience as an AGACNP is required
  • Ability to acquire Minnesota RN APRN license is required
  • Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat and have reliable Internet access as well as alternate access in cases where primary access becomes unavailable
  • Possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of [school specific], including experience in the practice of [field of study]
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Teaching, advising and mentoring; commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty; excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills
  • Be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible in order to teach in specific programs
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations

Responsibilities

  • Educate Walden University Students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
  • Adhere to all Walden University Faculty expectations
  • Receive specific training from Walden University in the techniques teaching, use of an electronic learning platform, specifics of the policies, procedures and degree programs of the School or College in which they are going to teach, socialization into the Walden University culture, assessment of academic integrity of student work (including use of www.turnitin.com), and research supervision of theses and dissertations
  • Be assigned a course, which is taught using the eCollege platform, and be responsible for interacting with students within this platform
  • Post to the classroom in a timely manner in accordance with the Faculty Handbook or other criteria established by Walden University
  • Post responses to student questions within 48 hours
  • Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions and provide feedback and grades to students through Blackboard
  • Be reasonably accessible to students
  • Be available to students outside the course discussion board and in addition to providing substantive feedback on assignments and postings
  • Publish their availability to students through course syllabi, instructor information in the classroom, and/or other appropriate documents
  • Attend Residencies held domestically or internationally, where they will teach intensives and colloquia, and facilitate school and university-wide discussions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Comply with all policies and standards
  • If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in the field of study or closely related field (or recognized by a country’s Ministry of Education or Counsel of Higher Education) is preferred
  • Teaching experience at the degree level of the program is preferred
  • RN and APRN license in one of the 50 states is preferred
  • Experience with distance learning preferred

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
