Summary

Join Walden University as a Faculty Member and contribute to educating students online. Faculty members utilize online technology and resources to effectively impart knowledge and provide feedback. Responsibilities include grading assignments, participating in discussions, responding to student emails, and using technology to enhance the learning experience. New faculty receive training in online teaching techniques, use of the learning platform, and Walden University's policies and culture. Course assignments are taught using Canvas, requiring regular interaction with students and timely responses to questions. Successful candidates must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution, and maintain current licenses and certifications.

Requirements

  • Be appropriately credentialed
  • Work currently as a AGPCNP/GNP/ANP
  • Possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught
  • Maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications in order to continue to teach at Walden University
  • Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
  • Obtain and maintain RN and APRN licensure in the state of Minnesota
  • Provide evidence of current Advanced Practice certification prior to hire as Nurse Practitioner Faculty at Walden University

Responsibilities

  • Educate Walden University students by effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources so that knowledge, information, feedback, and critique are imparted to and shared with students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well written, and timely communications
  • Grade assignments
  • Participate in discussions
  • Respond to student emails
  • Use technology designed to enhance the learning experience for students

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate (DNP or PhD)
  • A record of professional scholarly contributions to their field of specialization
  • A minimum of one year’s experience of teaching in higher education, preferred online teaching, but not required
  • Current clinical experience in NP practice
  • Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication, leadership, team, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Board Certified AGPC/GNP/ANP
  • A multi-state compact RN license, as well as active RN and APRN licensure in Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Alaska, and Oklahoma

Benefits

  • Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
  • Walden also offers other opportunities for its contributing faculty members, such as dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
