Summary

The job is for an OpenStack Administrator at Rackspace Technology. The role involves infrastructure management, designing and maintaining complex OpenStack environments, troubleshooting problems, providing technical support, working with vendors, gathering data for capacity planning, and developing projects to improve performance. The preferred education is a Bachelor's degree, and the preferred certifications are COA Certified OpenStack Administrator, RHCSA: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, and Windows Server Administration.

Requirements

• Intermediate working knowledge of Linux platforms and technologies and related technologies including MySQL, Apache, ha-proxy, and DNS
• Intermediate operating systems knowledge (Windows and Linux)
• General network administration skills
• Working knowledge of network storage protocols such as NFS and ISCSI
• An understanding of Content Distribution Network architecture and practices

Responsibilities

• Responsible for infrastructure tasks including provisioning hypervisors, connectivity issues, upgrades, and day-to-day issues and audits
• Designs, builds, administers, maintains, and troubleshoots complex OpenStack environments
• Troubleshoots problems and take corrective action on a timely and effective basis
• Provides technical support to internal and external users (customer-facing)
• Works appropriate level tickets in the queue
• Monitors and provides maintenance for all related infrastructure
• Works with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues
• Gathers data for capacity planning and performance analysis of infrastructure
• Develops projects to improve performance, efficiency, experience, capacity, etc. of environments
• Acts as the primary interface for the client or project manager for basic to intermediate projects
• Implements large, complex enterprise-class solutions using OpenStack technologies
• Performs regular checks of system components for errors and application of necessary corrective action

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• The following certifications are preferred: COA Certified OpenStack Administrator, RHCSA: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, Windows Server Administration
