Commercial Lines Underwriter

Summary

Join our team as a Commercial Lines Underwriter I and play a key role in evaluating risks, making underwriting decisions, and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent preferred
• Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to have a clear understanding of insurance coverage and risk selection

Responsibilities

• Determines and obtains information needed to effectively evaluate exposure to loss
• Applies good judgment in making independent decisions about risks under consideration
• Selects, rejects or offers acceptable alternatives for a given risk, within guidelines and philosophy established by the Company, using specialized knowledge and other pertinent information, such as underwriting reports, frequency and severity measures and policy payment history
• Communicates with Company associates, independent agents, CSRs and other insurance service organizations effectively and clearly
• Provides guidance to agents and CSRs on basic policy features, programs and coverages
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance in meeting a defined work schedule
• Provides outstanding service to internal and external customers with a positive, friendly attitude
