Summary

Join Autism Speaks as a temporary Community Engagement employee for approximately 3 months to support our Empower Summit Market events! This remote position, ideally based in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, or Miami/South Florida, involves a 35-hour work week. You will execute a mass outreach strategy to increase event participation, build contact lists, enhance online presence, and provide regular progress updates. The role requires an Associate's degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years of relevant work experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office 365. A reliable vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance are mandatory. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $25-$30.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Organized and detail oriented, with solid research and administrative skills
  • Superb customer service skills
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office 365 including Excel and Outlook
  • Must have reliable mode of transportation (automobile, valid driver’s license, and insurance is required)
  • Willingness to travel for in-person outreach opportunities and/or material distribution

Responsibilities

  • Execute mass outreach strategy in identified Autism Speaks Empower Summit market to increase acquisition of run, walk, and cycle participants for Day 2 of Autism Speaks Empower Summit
  • Outreach to include, but not limited to, phone calls, text messaging, emails, and in-person visits to distribute event materials
  • Build upon provided contact lists to identify additional prospects in focus areas: Fitness-related businesses (ex. Bike shops, gyms, athletic stores)
  • Collegiate and high school athletic departments
  • Corporate affinity groups
  • Increase the online presence of Autism Speaks Empower Summit through posting on online community boards, researching and engaging micro-influencers, and updating local event calendars
  • Provide regular and timely progress updates to supervisor
  • Communicate with local Executive Director and market lead on follow up notes and opportunities for expanded engagement

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ work experience preferred (administrative, fundraising, and/or special events) and working with volunteers, including grassroots organizing and volunteer mobilization
  • Peer-to-peer fundraising experience strongly preferred
