Requirements
- Passion for education and instructional design
- You are motivated by the Khan Academy mission “to provide a free world-class education for anyone, anywhere.”
- Deep knowledge and expertise in Chemistry
- 2+ years of experience teaching Chemistry at the K-12 or university level, giving you a deep empathy with learners, teachers and classrooms
- Able to harness creativity, empathy, and pragmatism to design learning experiences that are standards-aligned and lead to positive learning outcomes, even within the resource, curricular, and technology constraints of today’s classrooms
- Committed to equity and to delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences to all learners, particularly those in historically underrepresented groups or communities
- Strong execution and collaboration
- Connect your day-to-day work to larger departmental, school, or district-wide goals while also paying close attention to details to ensure that your work is clear, concise, and error-free
- Adept project manager who can break a complex task into manageable pieces and track your progress towards a goal or outcome. Stay organized even when there are multiple tasks to complete
- Kind, collaborative, and a strong communicator; successfully share, solicit, and act on feedback. Sum up complex ideas and communicate them to a variety of audiences
- Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of others, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors to drive inclusion and belonging throughout an organization
- Interest and availability
- Relish classroom teaching, but are curious about careers in content creation within the educational technology space, and are eager to learn more through an authentic full-time summer experience
- Available to participate in an 8-week full-time remote internship program between the end of your 2024-25 school year and the start of your 2025-26 school year, and are also available to share out your summer work at a remote event in August 2025
Responsibilities
- Develop, launch, and upgrade content on courses in your area of expertise
- Own and drive a project that gives you end-to-end experience with all aspects of Khan Academy’s content creation cycle
- Share your project through a culminating presentation at the close of the internship experience
- Learn from colleagues across the organization, while learning how different teams within an educational technology organization collaborate to design and deliver world-class digital learning experiences to learners and educators
- Explore ways to integrate our AI-powered tutor, Khanmigo, into our content to provide more tailored and interactive learning experiences to students
