Summary
Join Walden University as a Faculty member and contribute to educating a diverse community of adult learners through online instruction. You will utilize online technology and resources to effectively impart knowledge and provide feedback to students. Comprehensive training is provided, covering online teaching techniques, the university's learning platform, and Walden's culture. Faculty members are responsible for interacting with students through the Learning Management System (LMS), maintaining regular online presence, and providing timely responses. Opportunities for research mentorship and participation in residencies are also available. Compensation varies based on factors such as course type, experience, and location.
Requirements
- Possess a terminal degree in Psychology, Public Health, Human Services, Business Leadership or Consulting, and any area of behavioral health (such as Social Work or Counseling), or a related field from an accredited institution
- Be appropriately credentialed and possess an earned degree from an accredited institution or an institution recognized by a country's ministry of education in the discipline being taught
- Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
- Have a personal computer with virus protection and internet access
Responsibilities
- Educate Walden University students effectively and proficiently using online technology and resources
- Impart knowledge, information, feedback, and critique to students in thoughtful, carefully formulated, well-written, and timely communications
- Interact with students within the LMS (Learning Management System)
- Be in the classroom a minimum of 4 days per week
- Post responses to student questions within 48 hours
- Maintain regular and predictable availability, such as online office hours or regular online chats
- Provide timely feedback, approval, assessment, and evaluation of each student's work within the classroom
- Work one-on-one with students to help them meet the research requirements of their degree (for faculty mentors)
- Teach virtual or face-to-face intensives and colloquia at Residencies (graduate-level faculty)
- Facilitate school and university-wide discussions at Residencies (graduate-level faculty)
- Fully participate in university events and residencies when traveling
Preferred Qualifications
- Have 3-5 years of online teaching experience at the doctoral level
- Have experience serving on doctoral research committees for at least 1 year
- Show evidence of continuing scholarly or creative work within the past 5 years and be proficient in APA 7th edition
- Have a strong research methodology background in qualitative case study methods
- Possess excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relation skills
- Have experience working in an online instructional setting at the graduate level
Benefits
- Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
- Opportunities for dissertation/doctoral study committee chair positions, research reviewing, and dissertation and doctoral study mentoring
