Contributing Mental Health Counselor

Summary

Join Walden University as a Contributing Faculty Member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program! Teach and mentor graduate students online using the Blackboard platform, providing timely feedback and fostering a supportive learning environment. This remote position requires a doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program, current state licensure, and at least three years of teaching experience at the Master's/Doctoral level. You'll be responsible for course instruction, student interaction, and contributing to program assessment. Occasional travel may be required for residencies and meetings. Requirements

• Possess an earned doctorate in Counseling or Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program at an accredited institution
• Hold current state licensure as a mental health professional
• Have a minimum of three years of experience teaching and mentoring Master's and/or Doctoral level students
• Be able to use Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint), zip software, and Adobe Acrobat
• Have reliable internet access and alternate access in case of primary access becoming unavailable
• Maintain licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue teaching at Walden University
• Maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations
• Have an adequate computer to handle an electronic learning platform, keyboard, pointing device, and computer monitor

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses using the Blackboard platform
• Interact with students through the Blackboard platform, responding to questions within 48 hours
• Verify the accuracy of student postings and submissions
• Provide feedback and grades to students through Blackboard
• Publish availability to students through course syllabi (e.g., online office hours)
• Attend residencies/Pre-practica to teach intensives and colloquia
• Facilitate school and university-wide discussions at residencies/Pre-practica
• Complete training in dissertation chairing and service
• Serve on doctoral dissertations
• Complete other duties as assigned

• Experience directing thesis/dissertation research
• Ability to provide leadership and mentoring for students in the research process and a strongly student-centered nature
• Interest in establishing a community of mental health students
• Ability to provide leadership and support in program assessment
• Ability to assume a significant role in addressing student questions and concerns about the program
• Experience supervising students in their field training experience
• Commitment to the goals of diversity and social change
• Ability to work with non-traditional students
• Ability to participate in residencies/pre-practica, national faculty meetings and other work-related travel

Benefits

• Graduate Course Instruction: $1,560 - $4,080 per Quarter or Semester, depending on type of course taught and length of course
• Undergraduate Course Instruction: $700 - $2,200 per quarter, depending on type of course taught and length of course
