Summary

Join MoCaFi as a Controller and lead our accounting and financial reporting functions. Ensure financial accuracy, compliance with government regulations, and develop scalable processes. You will oversee financial operations, implement best-in-class accounting practices, and work closely with senior leadership. The ideal candidate has experience bringing accounting in-house from an outsourced setup and managing migrations from QBO to NetSuite. This remote role, with a hybrid option in NYC, offers a salary range of $160,000-$215,000. MoCaFi is committed to financial inclusion and offers a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping, with at least 2 years in a senior leadership role as controller, ideally in Fintech, SaaS or platform companies with exposure to government contracts, grants, and usage based pricing models
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, and regulatory requirements for government-related financial operations
  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and automation tools (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Workday)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality work in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Must be authorized to work and permanently based in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and government regulations
  • Maintain compliance with government contracts, grants, and financial reporting standards
  • Lead general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and payroll processing to support business objectives
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks
  • Support financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management, ensuring alignment with MoCaFiโ€™s strategic priorities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system upgrades to increase efficiency as MoCaFi grows
  • Manage external audits, tax filings, and relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies
  • Partner with the executive team, product, and operations teams to align financial strategy with business objectives
  • Analyze financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to executive leadership
  • Conduct financial due diligence on partnerships and contracts, ensuring alignment with MoCaFiโ€™s mission and growth plans
