Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field
- Nonprofit experience or adjacent industry knowledge
- 5+ years of professional copywriting experience, ideally in SaaS, technology, or nonprofit sectors
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with a knack for writing with clarity and emotional resonance
- Proven ability to tailor messaging for different audiences and formats (digital, print, video, etc.)
- Strong grasp of SEO principles and experience with keyword research
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), marketing automation platforms, and analytics tools
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Collaborative spirit and a willingness to contribute to a team-driven culture
- Passion for making a difference and working with mission-driven organizations
Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain Brand Messaging: Establish and refine a clear, authentic, and inspiring brand voice that reflects Virtuous’ mission, values, and the needs of nonprofit audiences
- Craft Compelling Copy Across Channels: Write high-converting, audience-focused copy for websites, email campaigns, blogs, social media, case studies, eBooks, webinars, video scripts, and other marketing materials to engage nonprofit professionals and drive demand
- Drive Demand and Lead Nurture Campaigns: Create persuasive copy for marketing campaigns, including email sequences, paid ads, landing pages, ensuring prospects remain engaged and move seamlessly through the buyer’s journey
- Content for Events and Promotions: Develop promotional assets for webinars, conferences, and other events that contribute to pipeline growth and spark interest in Virtuous
- Optimize and Test for Performance: Continuously refine copy and perform A/B testing to improve conversion rates and maximize the impact of marketing assets
- Storytelling for Nonprofits: Help nonprofits see themselves as the hero of their story by crafting content that highlights their challenges, successes, and opportunities to grow generosity
- Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with marketing, sales, product, and customer success teams to align messaging and strategies with company objectives and audience needs
- Develop and Execute Content Strategies: Work with the marketing team to create and implement strategies that drive demand, increase engagement, and amplify brand awareness
- SEO and Content Optimization: Create and optimize SEO-friendly content to improve visibility, reach, and engagement across key channels
- Editing and Proofing: Ensure all content is polished, professional, and aligned with the Virtuous brand voice
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates willing to commute and work out of our downtown Phoenix, AZ office (3-day/week hybrid schedule) are preferred, though we are accepting resumes from candidates working remotely throughout the US
