Requirements
- You are a licensed attorney (member of the California state bar, or another state) with 5+ years of legal experience
- You bring at least 3 years of experience at an AmLaw 100 firm or a similarly high-caliber legal environment, where you developed strong training in legal analysis, communication, and execution
- You have subject matter knowledge in labor & employment, California data privacy laws, and commercial contracting
- You’ve supported fast-paced teams and are confident building structure where little exists
- You’re motivated by solving complex problems with creativity and collaboration—especially when the outcome drives mission-aligned impact
- You translate legal complexity into clear, actionable solutions—and partner across teams to move quickly while staying grounded in empathy and sound judgment
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day legal operations across the business: from contract management and compliance to cross-functional policy development
- Lead commercial contract reviews, negotiations, and approvals—including customer, vendor, and partnership agreements
- Partner with Sales and GTM teams to negotiate terms and develop playbooks that unlock speed while preserving legal integrity
- Identify and close legal and regulatory gaps related to employment law, state filings, data privacy, and emerging AI regulations
- Serve as a responsive resource to internal teams and a strategic partner to leadership across Legal, People, Product, and Engineering
- Support and improve organizational legal hygiene—reducing “legal debt” through documentation, systems, and structure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with or advising startups
- Experience working in, or with, public safety
