Requirements
- JD, with admission to a state bar
- At least 5 years of relevant legal experience and/or government relations experience (either at a well-respected lobbying firm, law firm, or as an in-house attorney)
- At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government
- Experience engaging legislators and government regulators
- Bias toward action and solving (not just spotting) problems
- Ability to take ownership of your work and manage projects independently
- Excellent communication and writing abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and autonomously and meet tight deadlines
- Agility and flexibility to take on new tasks and responsibilities when necessary to support the business and legal teamβs needs in a fast-moving, rapidly scaling, and dynamic tech company
- Ability to engage with and interpret government data from databases and other sources
- Experience working cross-culturally and with diverse, global teams
- Ability to travel throughout the United States
Responsibilities
- Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states
- Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations
- Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change
- Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes
- Work with business teams, including the Product, Sales, and People Ops teams, to implement any required legislative and regulatory changes after conducting a risk analysis of compliance, including the dollars in risk for noncompliance
- Lead public relations campaigns, using both traditional and social media outlets, to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues that affect the business
- Work cross-functionally to identify, investigate, and manage risks across the business
- Analyze and provide guidance to the company on evolving rules, regulations, compliance requirements, and trends impacting the tech and healthcare industries
Benefits
- Salary range: $190,000 to $220,000
- Discretionary bonuses and/or equity compensation (may be eligible)
