Requirements

  • JD, with admission to a state bar
  • At least 5 years of relevant legal experience and/or government relations experience (either at a well-respected lobbying firm, law firm, or as an in-house attorney)
  • At least 2 years of experience working in state or federal government
  • Experience engaging legislators and government regulators
  • Bias toward action and solving (not just spotting) problems
  • Ability to take ownership of your work and manage projects independently
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and autonomously and meet tight deadlines
  • Agility and flexibility to take on new tasks and responsibilities when necessary to support the business and legal team’s needs in a fast-moving, rapidly scaling, and dynamic tech company
  • Ability to engage with and interpret government data from databases and other sources
  • Experience working cross-culturally and with diverse, global teams
  • Ability to travel throughout the United States

Responsibilities

  • Identify specific legislative and regulatory goals in various states
  • Engage with state and federal lobbyists to draft proposed legislation and regulations
  • Create coalitions with other stakeholders who share our vision for legislative and regulatory change
  • Monitor relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory changes
  • Work with business teams, including the Product, Sales, and People Ops teams, to implement any required legislative and regulatory changes after conducting a risk analysis of compliance, including the dollars in risk for noncompliance
  • Lead public relations campaigns, using both traditional and social media outlets, to engage stakeholders on advocacy issues that affect the business
  • Work cross-functionally to identify, investigate, and manage risks across the business
  • Analyze and provide guidance to the company on evolving rules, regulations, compliance requirements, and trends impacting the tech and healthcare industries

Benefits

  • Salary range: $190,000 to $220,000
  • Discretionary bonuses and/or equity compensation (may be eligible)
