Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a technology-focused startup environment
- Strong background in contract law, corporate governance, and compliance, with experience in tax issues
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support and strategic guidance to the executive team and board of directors on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management
- Advise on legal issues related to the startup environment, including funding, equity, and private equity ownership
- Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and execution of sales contracts, partnership agreements, and other legal documents
- Ensure contracts comply with relevant laws and company policies while protecting the company’s interests
- Monitor and ensure compliance with international laws and regulations, particularly in the technology and cybersecurity sectors
- Stay updated on changes in legislation related to cryptocurrency and its implications for the business
- Provide guidance on tax implications of business transactions and ensure compliance with local and international tax laws
- Collaborate with external tax advisors to optimize the company’s tax strategy
- Manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, ensuring adequate protection for innovations
- Handle any disputes, litigation, or claims involving the company, including working with outside counsel when necessary
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees regarding legal compliance, contract management, and ethical business practices
- Undertake all responsibilities as Secretary to the Board of Directors
- Assist in navigating the legal landscape of international markets as the company expands its global footprint
