Summary
Join our team as a Remote Paralegal specializing in criminal law and expungement! You will provide essential support to attorneys, handling legal research, document preparation, client communication, and case management. This role requires a strong understanding of criminal law and expungement processes, proficiency in legal research tools, and excellent communication skills. You will work remotely during US business hours and receive weekly pay. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's or Juris Doctor degree and at least two years of relevant experience. We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Law or/and a Juris Doctor degree is a must
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a remote paralegal for US law firms/offices, with a focus on criminal law and expungement preferred
- Strong understanding of criminal law procedures, expungement laws, and the legal system
- Proficient in legal research tools and case management software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research on US criminal law statutes, case law, and expungement eligibility criteria
- Draft, review, and file legal documents, including petitions for expungement, motions, and briefs
- Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, explain processes, and provide updates on case status
- Assist in managing case files, ensuring all documents are organized and deadlines are met
- Prepare and submit documents to courts electronically, ensuring compliance with local rules and procedures
- Conduct background checks and gather relevant information to support expungement applications
- Work closely with attorneys to develop case strategies and prepare for hearings or trials
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Practice Panther software is a plus
