Summary

Join the George Lucas Educational Foundation's Edutopia team as a part-time Data Analyst! This remote position (up to 20 hours/week) focuses on analyzing user behavior and campaign data to provide actionable insights for product and marketing teams. You will build and maintain reporting dashboards, automate reports, and ensure data integrity. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, experience with various analytics tools (including GA4, SQL, and Python/R), and excellent communication abilities. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2-3 years of experience are required. This is a contractor position, and benefits are not included.

Requirements

  • Possess strong data-wrangling and analytical skills; seamless ability to clean, structure, and interpret complex data sets
  • Possess excellent data manipulation skills using Google Sheets/Excel; knowledge of advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization
  • Have experience and comfort working with a variety of analytics tools, databases, and programming languages, specifically GA4, SQL, and Python/R
  • Have experience evaluating key product and marketing metrics, including user acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention, and familiarity with hypothesis testing, regression, clustering, and predictive modeling
  • Be able to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, translating complex data into clear insights and recommendations
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, mathematics, economics, computer science, or business analytics
  • Have at least 2-3 years of experience as a data analyst or in a similar role

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user behavior, feature adoption, funnel conversions, and retention metrics to inform product development and enhancements
  • Leverage social and other campaign data to conduct in-depth data analysis, uncover trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies, and translate these findings into actionable insights
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define ongoing projects and KPIs, ensuring alignment with our objectives
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable reporting dashboards to streamline decision-making and ensure timely, relevant insights are readily available across our teams
  • Automate recurring reports to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing reporting frameworks and propose solutions for improvement; add new frameworks and/or dashboards to the mix as our learning questions expand
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across different reporting platforms
  • Document best practices for data collection, storage, and reporting; train internal team members as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience or familiarity with tools like Heap, Amplitude, or Mixpanel
  • Have knowledge of digital marketing metrics and trends
  • Have knowledge of statistical methods for running and analyzing controlled experiments (e.g., A/B testing)
