Summary

edX is hiring a remote, part-time Data Science instructor for their Sydney or Monash University programs in Australia. Instructors will lead online lectures, build community, translate complex subject matter, provide support to students, and create an engaging learning environment. A Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience in Data Science are required, along with proficiency in Python, Databases, Business Intelligence Software, and Advanced Topics. Preferred skills include Front End Web Visualization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Data Science
• Completion of background check with satisfactory results, determined at edX’s discretion
• Must have a laptop, camera, at least one additional monitor, microphone / headset, and reliable internet access
• UPS device is required
• A positive attitude
• Ability to deliver lesson plans provided by 2 U
• Be able to infuse empathy, support, encouragement, and fun into the student experience
• Proficiency in Python Programming - Python, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib
• Databases - MySQL and MongoDB
• Business Intelligence Software - Tableau
• Advanced Topics - Big Data Analytics with Hadoop, and Machine Learning

Responsibilities

• Lead online lectures following a detailed lesson plan that includes an active discussion environment and project-based learning
• Bring the learning experience to life by building community and enhancing relevance by drawing on your own industry experience
• Translate complex subject matter in a clear and concise manner for a diverse range of learners or skill levels
• Provide support and encouragement to students as they go through a life-changing experience
• Create an engaging, positive, and inclusive learning environment for our students
• Increase participant engagement using different facilitation tactics
• Guide large and small groups of learners in an empathetic manner
• Amplify student satisfaction by creating a positive classroom culture
• Communicating timely with students and leveraging effective interventions by sharing resources

Front End Web Visualization - HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript Charting, and D3.js
