Data Engineer

Summary

Join Barstool Sports as a Data Engineer in New York City or remotely. You will own, maintain, and enhance data projects, collaborating with product, engineering, and data science teams. Responsibilities include building and maintaining data workflows, custom scraping solutions, and ETL pipelines. You will utilize SQL and various tools to manage data ingestion. Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering experience in Javascript or Python with a strong grasp of SQL
• Ability to interact with 3rd party API’s at scale. Some workflows will query millions of rows
• Strong understanding of data warehouses and how to efficiently store the data for optimal query performance
• Excellent communication skills — you should be able to clearly articulate your decisions

Responsibilities

• Own, maintain, and enhance data projects across an array of projects
• Work with the product & engineering team, as well as our data science team, to build and orchestrate data workflows that move data from our vast number of 3rd party sources into our central data warehouse
• Build and maintain custom scraping solutions
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines
• Manage out-of-the-box data ingestion products
• Utilize SQL for simple data retrieval to complex materialized views

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Prefect
• Experience with AWS Lambda
• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with FiveTran, StitchData or other ETL tools
