Summary

Join Coalition, a leading Active Insurance provider, and lead a team of data engineers in building the next generation of our enterprise data platform on Snowflake. Lead and coordinate data engineering activities, ensuring timely delivery of data solutions. Serve as a hands-on technical leader and mentor, providing expertise in modern data architecture and cloud-native environments. Manage and guide engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning. Balance technical debt with new feature delivery, aligning technical strategy with business priorities. Ensure robust instrumentation and best practices for the data lifecycle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic projects. Champion transparent communication and build a high-performing team culture.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of overall data engineering or software engineering experience, with 3+ years managing teams of 5 or more data/analytics engineers
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire individuals with diverse technical backgrounds and experience levels
  • Track record of collaborating effectively with stakeholders across product, analytics, and business teams to achieve impactful outcomes aligned with organizational needs
  • Deep understanding of modern data engineering best practices, and experience choosing and applying the right engineering methodologies for team and project success
  • Hands-on expertise designing and managing high-volume, reliable, and scalable cloud-based data platforms (preferably with substantial experience in Snowflake environments)
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and optimizing end-to-end ELT/ETL workflows using tools such as DBT, Fivetran, and Snowpipe
  • Proven record of delivering data solutions and managing complex projects across multiple teams or departments
  • Strong technical depth to effectively assess data architecture, pipelining challenges, system trade-offs, and project risks
  • Analytical, organized, and adept at managing multiple projects or shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented in capturing requirements, yet able to balance with broader business objectives and platform vision
  • Experience integrating data engineering solutions with APIs or other data service endpoints
  • Expert-level technical knowledge in one or more fields such as data warehousing, data modeling, or pipeline orchestration
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—demonstrated with cross-functional teams and all organizational levels
  • Tech stack expertise: Advanced proficiency with Snowflake; strong experience using DBT (or similar modeling tools), Fivetran, and Snowpipe for data pipeline automation and orchestration
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Drive the evolution of our enterprise data platform by leading and empowering a team building the next generation of scalable, secure, and high-quality data infrastructure on Snowflake
  • Lead and coordinate data engineering activities to ensure successful, timely delivery of data solutions and product features, optimizing for performance, governance, and business value
  • Serve as a hands-on technical leader and mentor, offering expertise in modern data architecture, ELT/ETL, pipeline orchestration, and engineering excellence in Snowflake and cloud-native environments
  • Provide management, guidance, and career growth opportunities for engineers; proactively identify skill gaps and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Balance technical debt remediation with delivering new features, aligning technical strategy to business priorities and maximizing team productivity
  • Ensure robust end-to-end instrumentation and best practices for the entire data lifecycle—from data acquisition and modeling through transformation, quality assurance, and production deployment
  • Collaborate with Product, Analytics, and Business partners to balance resourcing, scope, and scheduling for strategic projects
  • Champion transparent and proactive communication within the team and across the organization to drive alignment and shared ownership
  • Play an active role in building out the Data Engineering function, from recruiting and onboarding to cultivating an inclusive, high-performing team culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with insurance or security technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, and the Atlassian tool suite
  • Experience working in the InfoSec, Tech and Cybersecurity markets
  • Experience working with data at scale, data science/analytics, and data collection techniques
  • Familiar with building service oriented architectures and distributed systems
  • We expect candidates to embrace AI-powered tools like Cursor and Co-pilot to aggressively accelerate software delivery and maximize development efficiency, with mandatory adoption required upon joining
