Summary

Join Envato as a Data Engineering Manager and lead the growth of our Data Engineering team, building a brand-new data platform from the ground up. You will set the direction, prioritize work, and foster collaboration to ensure the platform supports business needs. This role focuses on empowering engineers, managing resources, and driving technical excellence. You will oversee the transition to AWS, leveraging Redshift, Snowflake, and DBT. Requirements

  • Experienced people leader with a strong track record of mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing data engineering teams
  • Previously worked as a Data Engineer and has hands-on experience in building and optimizing data platforms
  • Proven ability to lead and scale data teams, ensuring smooth operations and continuous delivery of high-quality work
  • Strong delivery focus, effectively managing priorities, aligning resources, and driving successful project execution
  • Expertise in cloud migration and replatforming, particularly within AWS environments
  • Deep technical knowledge of Redshift, Snowflake, and DBT (Cloud or Core) for data transformation and modeling
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, fostering collaboration across business teams and ensuring alignment with company goals
  • Adaptable and proactive leader who embraces change, drives continuous improvement, and empowers teams to succeed

Responsibilities

  • Empower, mentor, and develop a data focused team, ensuring they perform at their best
  • Organise team work, set clear goals, and ensure accountability to successfully deliver data engineering projects
  • Lead the build of a modern, scalable data platform from scratch while maintaining and gradually decommissioning the legacy system
  • Oversee the transition to AWS, leveraging Redshift, Snowflake, and DBT Cloud or Core for data transformation
  • Work closely with analytics, product, and business teams to define priorities, ensure alignment, and deliver value
  • Take ownership of platform availability, performance, and security, ensuring smooth operations
  • Continuously refine engineering practices, streamline workflows, and enhance predictability in project execution
  • Promote data engineering excellence, including well-structured DBT models, scalable data pipelines, and robust governance
  • Keep the team up to date with emerging technologies, encourage experimentation, and support professional growth
  • Partner with senior leadership on technical strategy, budgets, resource planning, and long-term roadmap development
