Data Engineering Manager

Requirements

• Recognize that people are the most important asset and have extensive experience in people and careers management within the data career field
• Be a very technical manager that can discuss data event-driven architecture, in a modern stack paradigm
• Have a background in both Data Platform and Data Pipelines
• Be an expert in dimensional data modeling (star schema or snowflake), with knowledge of technical concepts and best implementation practices
• Be proficient in SQL and Python, passionate about writing clean, performant, and maintainable code
• Understand the data lifecycle and concepts such as architecture, lineage, governance, privacy, etc
• Be fluent in cloud infrastructure, such as AWS and GCP
• Be experienced in designing and implementing event-driven architectures
• Keep up with the evolution of technologies and best practices in the data engineering domain and seek to apply them in the team's routine
• Have good communication skills, to collaborate with multiple stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Design, Data and Ops team)
• Be able to deal with uncertainty
• Be able to define the strategic roadmap connecting with the business priorities and evolving the tech capabilities as setting the right expectations with the stakeholders
• Fluency in English is mandatory for this position

Responsibilities

• Be a technical reference for your team
• Oversee the development and implementation of data pipelines and platform solutions, ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability
• Be willing to be hands-on, when needed
• Discuss business and engineering requirements with analysts, engineers and stakeholders on a deep level and anticipate risks
• Build a great team both recruiting great talent and helping them grow
• Evaluate the performance of team members, providing regular feedback, and identifying opportunities for their development
• Set clear goals and objectives for the team and ensuring they are aligned with the overall business objectives
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to understand their requirements or explain technical concepts
• Advocate for the value of data analytics and engineering within the organization and fostering a data-driven culture
