Summary
The job is an internship for the Data Product team at Sayari, a Washington D.C.-based counterparty and supply chain risk intelligence provider. The intern will conduct research, data extraction, curation, and maintenance, and write reports to assist analysts. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience, fluency in one or more priority languages, and be enrolled in a graduate program focusing on International Relations/Security, Geopolitical Risk, Political Science, Journalism, or related fields.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focusing on International Relations/Security, Geopolitical Risk, Political Science, Journalism, or related fields of study
- Professional fluency in one or more priority languages (Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, French)
- 1+ year of experience in investigations or open-source research for commercial, academic, or similar purposes (internship & academic experience included)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interest in learning new tools
- Experience with public records and commercial intelligence tools
- Experience with international affairs-relevant research
- Ability to multitask, solve problems creatively, and triage competing priorities
- Familiarity with spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Sheets
Responsibilities
- Keep abreast of international affairs topics and identify pertinent data sources to enhance our data repository
- Conduct thorough research across corporate registries, data aggregators, and trusted sources such as annual reports, regulatory filings, and online databases
- Complete the data extraction, curation, and maintenance of existing and new datasets by extracting structured data from reports and regulations, conducting entity disambiguation, and performing data labeling
- Continuously monitoring and updating existing datasets
- Write well-structured and concise reports to assist a team of Analysts with data research tasks
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with quantitative tools and/or coding is a plus
