Internet Measurement Research Intern

Join ThousandEyes, a Cisco company, as a research intern and make an immense impact on our product! You'll work alongside experienced researchers on exciting projects, developing new algorithms to improve inference schemes within the ThousandEyes product. Your innovations will progress from proof of concept to production, used by some of the world's largest networks. This paid summer internship offers the possibility of full-time employment after graduation. The role is based in the US and can be remote or in-person at one of our hub locations. Successful candidates will possess strong networking knowledge, programming skills, and excellent communication abilities.

Requirements

• Working towards a PhD in Computer Science (we will consider strong master’s students with research experience demonstrated through publications)
• Strong understanding of networking and internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, HTTP, etc.)
• Existing portfolio of network measurement projects (publication and/or course projects)
• Expert in Python
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL (e.g., Mongo, Hadoop)
• Great written, verbal, and persuasive communication skills

Responsibilities

• Innovate, design, and develop new algorithms to improve the inference schemes within the ThousandEyes product
• Work with world-class engineering and product teams to take your innovations from proof of concept to production and be used by some of the largest networks in the world

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience with IP geolocation techniques
