Data Science Intern

Summary

Join Wealthsimple's Data Science & Engineering team as an intern and contribute to projects transforming financial services for Canadians. This 4-month (May-August 2025) remote-first internship offers mentorship and connection to the broader Wealthsimple community. You'll work on a team building a data warehouse, leveraging machine learning, and using decision science. The ideal candidate is driven, takes ownership, enjoys challenges, and is comfortable with self-directed learning. Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
• New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date
• Available to work full-time hours
• Residing in Canada
• Familiarity with Python, SQL
• Basic understanding of statistics: either frequentist and Bayesian approaches
• Basic understanding of fundamental machine-learning algorithms: regression and decision trees
• First-hand experience working with popular Python libraries such as Pandas, scikt-learn, numpy and Jupyter
• Excellent communicator

Responsibilities

• Build a high-quality and scalable state-of-the-art data warehouse that powers all decision making
• Leverage machine learning and algorithms to help Wealthsimple build smarter financial products
• Use decision science to understand the cause and effect of our business decisions
