Data Scientist

Summary

Join ACT Digital Group as a Data Scientist to work on a 600-day project (initial contract: 160 days) in Brussels. The role involves developing advanced data mining solutions, designing user interfaces, and maintaining software applications in NLP, ML, and AI. You will collect and process data, create data models, and contribute to the analytics architecture. The position requires expertise in NLP, machine learning, Python, and various data technologies. Near-site/hybrid work is expected, with the ability to reach Brussels within 2 hours.

Requirements

• Experienced in NLP and Machine Learning
• Experienced in Python language
• Excellent knowledge of Perl, Python, Matlab, R and its NLP/ML libraries (SpaCy, NLTK, scikit-learn, pandas…)
• Excellent knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Neural Network, and/or artificial intelligence frameworks
• Excellent knowledge of Data Management
• Good knowledge of AWS and/or Azure
• Good knowledge of Linux
• Good knowledge of Unix and Bash
• Good knowledge of natural language processing systems lifecycle and agile software development methodologies
• Good knowledge of quality assurance and quality control for machine translation (MT) and experience with MT quality procedures, testing methodologies and tools, such as automatic quality metrics (BLEU scores and similar) and human evaluation of MT quality
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase, etc
• Knowledge of data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc
• Experience in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing
• Proficient in continuous code delivery and unit testing
• Good knowledge of business intelligence tools (Tableau, SAS, SAP, GoodData…)
• Expertise in the ETL processes and tools (i.e. Talend Open Studio…)
• Good knowledge of SQL tooling (NoSQL DB, MongoDB, Hadoop, SQL)
• Knowledge in Database Mining systems and in Big Data technologies
• Knowledge in one of the following areas: predictive (forecasting, recommendation), prescriptive (simulation), sentiment analysis, topic detection, social media crawling and processing, plagiarism detection, trends/anomalies detection in datasets, recommendation systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team as well as autonomously
• Results-oriented mindset, focused on delivering
• A minimum educational qualification is: Level of education corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualification Framework which typically corresponds to a bachelor degree of 3 years

Responsibilities

• Collect business requirement and develop advanced data mining solutions or identify, assess and deploy relevant existing data mining, machine learning and business intelligence solution
• Specification and design of presentation interfaces with optimal usability/user experience
• Development and maintenance of software applications in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Identify, collect, convert and update different data types/sets in several locations (e.g. ETL)
• Produces data models according to specific problems statements
• Scripting and programming
• Contribute to the design and implementation of the analytics architecture and its solution stack (including performance aspects, physical design, capacity dimensions etc…)
• Write the different documentation associated with the tasks and liaise with other project teams as necessary to address cross-project interdependencies
