Summary

Join SeatGeekโ€™s Demand Analytics team as a Data Scientist, focusing on measuring and optimizing marketing channel performance. Partner with the Demand team to support strategies, optimization, and budget allocation decisions across marketing channels. Develop and maintain machine learning models, design experiments to measure channel incrementality, and conduct data analysis to generate insights. Define and monitor key metrics, understanding root causes of changes and feeding them back to stakeholders. Collaborate with the Analytics Engineering team to build data models and perform batch models in production. Contribute to the development of the Demand Analytics function and wider data community at SeatGeek. This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with large datasets, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Experience working on open-ended projects, and the ability to come up with creative, elegant solutions to complex issues
  • 3+ years of relevant applied experience with a degree or higher in economics, computer science, statistics, or mathematics or another quantitative discipline
  • A strong understanding of standard statistical methods for analysis
  • Expertise with at least one scripting language (ideally Python, though R is acceptable)
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with analytics & visualization tools (Looker, ggplot/matplotlib or equivalent)
  • Experience performing analysis with large datasets
  • Independent thinking, ability to work autonomously, capability of taking on loosely defined problems and translating complex thinking into practical application for diverse audiences
  • Natural communication skills with a value for building strong relationships with colleagues and partners and enjoys mentoring and teaching others

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate and maintain machine learning models that support business strategies and decisions
  • Design experiments or use causal inference methods to measure channel incrementality or campaign effectiveness
  • Develop research questions and conduct data analysis to generate insights and recommendations that help SeatGeek make smarter decisions and enhance operational efficiency
  • Define, evaluate, and monitor key metrics, understanding the root causes of changes, and feeding them back to business stakeholders to action on
  • Work closely with the Analytics Engineering team to build lasting, analysis-friendly data models, and perform batch models that run in production
  • Contribute to the development of the Demand Analytics function and the wider data community at SeatGeek with programming and problem-solving best practices
  • Partner with stakeholders on the Demand team, understanding their objectives and aligning our work to complement and enhance their ability to achieve those goals
