Summary

JumpCloud is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to build and lead new teams in their Data Enablement group in India. The manager will be responsible for managing a small team of data engineers and providing strong hands-on technical contributions. They will also play an active role in the design and development of critical data infrastructure and systems for various business areas. The candidate should have 5+ years experience managing or leading data teams and 8+ years hands-on experience as a data engineer.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience managing or leading data teams running in a public cloud, like AWS, GCP or Azure
• 8+ years hands-on experience as a data engineer in any industry and in any modern tech stack
• Strong software engineering principles and techniques
• Hands-on experience working with agile scrum teams
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with other engineering managers, and both technical and non-technical business stakeholders
• Ability to quickly integrate new technologies and industry best practices into your skill sets
• Experience managing cross functional teams including Data, Software and Quality Engineers
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Managing and guiding the engineering team reporting to you
• Play an active and critical role in the design and development of our critical data infrastructure and systems for multiple areas of the business
• Hiring, on-boarding and mentoring a growing and diverse team of high potential team members
• Building out features, helping drive architecture, defining best practices and enabling product quality
• Partnering with your peers and other teams to build, lead, and inspire a world class engineering organization

Preferred Qualifications

• Python3 software development experience
• SQL for data transformation and analysis experience
• Snowflake data warehouses (or equivalent) experience
• Dremio data lakehouses experience
• Apache Kafka (and it’s supporting tools) experience
• Experience building observable data systems
• Experience with basic data modeling and data architecture
• Experience with data governance, including data contracts and schema management
• Experience with data security standards including RBAC and sensitive data handling
