Summary
Join Wilcore as a Database Administrator (DBA) to support the backend of the My HealtheVet (MHV) platform, a secure VA system providing Veterans with easy access to their health information and services. This full-time, remote position involves managing cloud-hosted databases, supporting data integrations, and ensuring smooth system operations. You will contribute to a large federal healthcare program, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with various teams. The role requires 3+ years of database experience, SQL and scripting skills, and familiarity with cloud environments and APIs. A Bachelor's degree and US citizenship are required, along with the ability to obtain a low-level security clearance. Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working with databases in a backend or infrastructure role
- Solid SQL and basic scripting experience (e.g., Python or Bash)
- Comfortable working in AWS or another cloud environment
- Familiarity with APIs, data flows, and backend integrations (REST, SOAP, HL7)
- Good troubleshooting skills and a desire to learn β especially in a complex, high-security environment
- Experience with backups, performance monitoring, and managing data in production systems
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Must be a US Citizen and able to work domestically
- Must be able to attain low-level security clearance
- Bachelorβs degree
Responsibilities
- Manage cloud-hosted databases
- Support data integrations with external systems
- Ensure smooth backend operations of the My HealtheVet platform
- Troubleshoot issues and provide support
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and security teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to VA systems, healthcare data, or federal environments
- Experience with Oracle, InterSystems IRIS/HealthShare, or MUMPS
- Familiarity with DevOps tooling: Git, Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes
- Knowledge of data security standards and PHI/PII handling
