Database Developer

Summary

Join our team as an experienced DBA/Database Developer with expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, especially in Amazon RDS environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of database management, development, and migration between Oracle and PostgreSQL. Responsibilities include database design, optimization, troubleshooting, and supporting complex applications. This fully remote position requires an active Secret clearance or higher. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity and performance. The salary range is $110,000 - $130,000 a year.

Requirements

• Have deep expertise in managing and developing databases in Oracle and PostgreSQL environments, particularly Amazon RDS
• Possess experience in database migration and conversion between Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Have an active Secret clearance or higher

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and monitor Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, particularly in Amazon RDS environments
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of database systems
• Implement database upgrades, patches, and migrations as needed
• Design and develop database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures for business requirements
• Optimize SQL queries and database performance for efficient application functionality
• Collaborate with application developers to ensure seamless integration and performance of database-driven applications
• Plan and execute database migration strategies between Oracle and PostgreSQL
• Convert database objects (tables, procedures, triggers, etc.) from Oracle to PostgreSQL
• Address challenges related to data type mapping, PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL translation, and performance tuning post-migration
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for database backups, monitoring, and maintenance
• Utilize AWS monitoring tools to ensure database health and performance
• Diagnose and resolve database performance and connectivity issues
• Provide on-call support as needed to address critical database issues
