Summary
Join our team as a skilled DBA/Database Developer specializing in Oracle to PostgreSQL migration and AWS cloud services. You will play a crucial role in migrating, optimizing, and managing databases, ensuring high performance and reliability. A deep understanding of database architecture, migration tools, and cloud-based solutions is essential. This fully remote position requires an active Secret clearance or higher. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing database migrations, developing and optimizing database schemas, and integrating databases with AWS cloud environments. Performance tuning, security, and collaboration with other teams are also key aspects of this role.
Requirements
- Expertise in Oracle to PostgreSQL migration
- Strong background in AWS cloud services
- Deep understanding of database architecture
- Understanding of database migration tools
- Understanding of cloud-based database solutions
- Active Secret clearance or higher
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute Oracle to PostgreSQL migration projects, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity
- Analyze existing Oracle schemas, stored procedures, and triggers to create optimized PostgreSQL equivalents
- Leverage tools like AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), ora2pg, or other migration utilities
- Develop and optimize database schemas, indexes, and queries for PostgreSQL
- Write and maintain complex SQL scripts, functions, and stored procedures
- Collaborate with development teams to design scalable database solutions for applications
- Deploy and manage databases in AWS cloud environments, using services like RDS, Aurora, and EC2
- Optimize database configurations for performance, cost, and reliability in the cloud
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions in AWS
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies
- Conduct capacity planning and ensure efficient resource utilization
- Ensure databases meet security and compliance standards, including encryption and access control
- Conduct audits and apply patches or updates as needed
- Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders
- Create and maintain documentation for database designs, processes, and migrations
