Requirements

  • Strong experience with Postgres
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Go, or Bash
  • Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
  • Hands-on experience with IaC (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Solid understanding of AWS cloud services, with specific expertise in and experience with RDS
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk)
  • Understanding of high availability, clustering, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Experience implementing database backup, restore, and replication strategies
  • Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and database change management
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, privacy- and security-focused environment

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient database systems
  • Develop and apply SRE principles to database operations, including monitoring, observability, incident response, and automation
  • Optimize database performance and query tuning to improve efficiency and reduce latency
  • Automate database provisioning, backups, and schema changes using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools
  • Ensure effective database replication, clustering, failover mechanisms, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Establish and enforce database security best practices, including access control and encryption
  • Collaborate with software engineers to design database schemas and indexing strategies that align with application needs
  • Drive database infrastructure improvements using CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies
  • Participate and manage on-call rotations and provide expert guidance during incidents and post-mortems
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies, best practices, and industry trends

  • The target base salary for this position ranges from $202,000 to $243,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable)
