Summary
Join Liftoff, a leading growth acceleration platform for the mobile industry, as their new Deputy General Counsel. This high-impact role involves collaborating with business partners, maintaining the company's global privacy program, ensuring compliance with global privacy laws, and providing subject-matter expertise in privacy and data security. You will also draft, review, and negotiate contracts, advise executive leadership, oversee subsidiary management, and assist in designing internal compliance programs. This is a strategic legal generalist position with the potential to become the future GC. Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active, current license to practice law in the state of California
- Minimum 8 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in an in-house counsel role at a corporate organization—ideally in tech, SaaS, or digital advertising sectors
- Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS, vendor, marketing, employment-related, and NDAs
- Hands-on experience with global privacy and data protection regulations, including building or managing compliance programs
- Experience supporting or managing regulatory inquiries involving privacy or information security
- Familiarity with corporate compliance frameworks, including policy development, codes of conduct, and employee training
- Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly, providing practical, business-focused legal guidance
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to build trusted relationships across departments like Legal, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and People Ops
- Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable, with sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business partners to understand their goals and ensure contracts and legal solutions are aligned with company strategy
- Assist with maintaining the company’s global privacy program and updating processes to reflect changes in regulation and business practices
- Support the company’s compliance with global privacy laws and data protection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and others
- Provide subject-matter expertise in privacy and data security to teams including People Operations, Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Engineering
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and technological developments related to privacy, data security, and consumer protection
- Educate and support internal teams on contract templates, legal processes, and compliance best practices
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts across all functional areas, including commercial agreements, marketing agreements, employment-related agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other business-related contracts
- Assist in advising executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders on legal risks and strategies associated with operating a growth-stage company
- Oversee subsidiary management, including formation, governance and inter-company agreements
- Assist in the design and operationalization of internal compliance programs, including insider trading, code of conduct, whistleblower, and SOX controls as needed
